Dental Implants Mooresville NC
Langdon Cosmetic & Family Dentistry is one of the few dental offices in the area that provides dental implants from start to finish. This means everything from planning and tooth extraction to the final restoration, is completed in one place.

What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are biocompatible screws placed in the jawbone to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that their new teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. The implants are tiny titanium or ceramic screws placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The surrounding bone bonds with the implant, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition, dental implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration that can lead to sagging facial features and a sunken, aged appearance.
Once your implants are in place, it takes 3 to 6 months for osseointegration, which is the fusing of the implants with the surrounding bone. During this time, you wear a temporary restoration. Once osseointegration is complete, the temporary restoration is removed, and your permanent restoration, whether a crown, a fixed bridge, or a full arch of replacement implant teeth, is attached.
Why Choose us for your Dental Implants
The dental implant process is lengthy and complex. In addition to placing the implants in the exact locations for maximum support and stability, you may need some teeth extracted or bone grafting to improve jawbone width or density. Designing and fabricating the implant restorations requires additional skills.
Very few dental practices can provide all of these services in one location, but at Langdon Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, we have the experience and skill to do it all. Rather than coordinating with multiple specialists and undergoing procedures with someone you don’t know, you can get the care you deserve in one location, simplifying the process and ensuring your dental implant and restoration journey is smooth and comfortable.
Benefits of Dental Implants
Implants offer a range of valuable benefits, including:
- Bone Loss Prevention: Implants stimulate the jawbone, encouraging bone growth so that the jawbone doesn’t shrink with age. This prevents the sunken appearance often associated with tooth loss
-
Improved Chewing: Implants allow you to use your full bite force, so eating even tough or chewy foods is easy. You can also chew without worrying about dentures slipping or shifting.
-
Protects Remaining Teeth: You can support a fixed bridge on dental implants without having to damage any remaining natural teeth.
-
Easy Care: Dental implants are easy to care for; you brush and floss your restorations like your natural teeth and see us twice a year for a professional cleaning and checkup.
-
Improved Confidence: Once you no longer have to worry about slipping dentures or hiding your missing teeth behind your hands, your confidence will bounce back, and you can begin enjoying life again.

Dental Implant Procedure
Dental implants are metal anchors that act as tooth root substitutes. They are surgically placed into the jawbone. Small posts are then attached to the implant, which protrude through the gums. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.
For most patients, dental implant placement involves two surgical procedures. First, dental implants are placed within your jawbone. For the first three to six months following surgery, the implants are beneath the gum surface, gradually bonding to the jawbone.
After the dental implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins. Dr. Scott or Holden Langdon will uncover the implants and attach a small healing collar. Dr. Scott or Holden Langdon can then start making your new implant teeth. A digital scan must be taken, which is used to design customized restorations. When the restorations are complete, we remove the healing abutment and attach your permanent restorations to your dental implants. The entire procedure usually takes six to eight months. Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily lives.
